Book 1 and Book 2 each consist of 16 independent units, which stimulate children's interest and curiosity. Based on each classroom's time schedule or teachers' ideas, the units can be used in order, randomly, or by selection.

Each four page unit is designed so that children are exposed to the same words and expressions repeatedly by experiencing various activities. The first page is the introduction page for children to get accustomed to the English used in the unit. The core activities are found on the second and third pages. Whether the children have learned through the various activities can be checked with the task page at the end of the unit.

None of the pages have instructions written in Japanese. The aim is for children to listen to the teacher's instructions in English and understand what to do rather than read instructions and find out what to do. Being able to follow instructions and take part in the activity is a sign that children are developing listening and comprehension skills.

Each page contains a large number of illustrations and photographs, which match the aim of the unit. The pages support the activities conducted. Children will search for items, count objects, or conduct other activities according to the teacher's questions or instructions. Task pages, where children color or write in information, and worksheets, which are used in activities, are also included.
